The World of Alcoron

One world ・ one timeline ・ one history At the heart of the continent of Alcoron lies the Kingdom of Castellane, in the age of RY12 — a world that moves of its own accord, and every novel is but the witness of a character who lives in it

Today in Alcoron

The world moves another day — short tidings that show Alcoron is alive, even while no one reads.

Core Concept — A Shared World

Alcoron is not the backdrop to one story — it is a world that lives and moves on its own. Every novel draws from the same events on the same timeline; each is merely one character's point of view inside a far wider world.

World Canon
The shared canon of the world that the whole universe abides by — no matter whose point of view, it never contradicts.
Shared Timeline
A single timeline that every event and every novel references alike.
Persistent World
The world endures even when no story is open — characters act, and the world responds.
Character Presence
Characters truly exist in the world; they are not merely ink on one story's page.
Event-Based Reality
Events are the heart of the world. Characters arise around them, and novels choose what to tell after.
POV Narrative
Each novel is a point-of-view slice of a character who lives in the real world.
Cross-Novel Continuity
Continuity across stories — what happens in one ripples into another.
Living World
A living world — it has news, it moves every day, even while no one is reading.
Historical Consistency
History stays consistent across every point of view — never bent until it breaks.
Objective World, Subjective Stories
The world is shared objective truth; the stories are each observer's subjective telling.

Timeline of Alcoron

The events on the shared timeline that every novel references — the world's objective truth before the stories begin.

Pre-Alice — PR120
About 120 years before the RY era, in the southern Monsoon Deltas: 'The Monsoon Pier'. Canal navigator Rin follows the Cursed Canal her grandfather hid in a map — the same world, an age before the Court of Castellane was founded.
Founding Year — RY1
Queen Alice ascends at Eldermere, founding the Court of Castellane, 'the court of the valley'. She has never once appeared in public, ruling through written decrees and proxies — not one commoner in the realm has seen her face.
Sowing the Fields — RY1–RY5
Settlement spreads to Oakmere, Greywater, and the western reaches. The Court sends envoys to the four civilizations around the continent.
Stirring of Markets — RY5–RY9
Merchants of the Monsoon Deltas begin flowing into Castellane's market towns; the Oracle's prophecies start to outrun events.
The Gilded Age — RY10–RY11
Eldermere flourishes; the Court becomes the continent's centre of power. The novels all begin in this season.
The Present — RY12
The age in which the stories unfold, in the winter of RY12 — Oakmere, the Pilgrims' Inn and the Glass Library all stir on the same count of days. Misthollow and the four borders wake.

Places of the Kingdom

Eldermere

The capital and seat of the Court of Castellane, where the Oracle serves — far from the quiet border towns of the novels. 'The old mere' of legend.

Oakmere

A far-eastern border town of wheat and mills, at the end of the grain road out to the Ink Kingdoms, a week's ride from the capital.

Greywater

A river town of mills and grey stone, known for its bridgekeepers and the memory of the realm.

Misthollow

A small town in the far-western borderlands, where the unassuming Lord Rowan tends harvests, taxes and old grudges.

Crossfield

A crossroads town amid the wheat fields, a way-stop for carts between Eldermere and the eastern harbours.

Hollowford

A river port in a valley pass, where southern goods move north and songs run late.

The Civilisations Beyond

Beyond the kingdom, four peoples colour the edges of the map.

East

The Ink Kingdoms

Silk, scroll and dragon — a world of courts and calligraphy. Feeds 17,600 souls without a single grain field, so it buys Castellane wheat through the twin gates of Oakmere and Xiguan. RY12: armed peace.

South

The Monsoon Deltas

River-delta monsoon trading — a world of boats, markets and monsoon rain. Delta barges come upriver to the salt town of Tanjipura and on into Castellane's southern markets. RY12: warmest trade partner.

North

The Fjord-Raiders

Cold-sea raiders who hunt grain among the fjords. Iron and fast ships, not one field. RY12: open war with Castellane since RY10 — the only enemy still drawing blood.

Far West

The Spice Sultanates

Desert caravan rivals bound by the spice roads. They undercut the overland trade and shelter those the Court's writ has chased west. RY12: rivalry, never blood.

The People

The quiet folk who carry the stories.

A single standard Thai spelling across the whole universe — this is the form used in every novel, every page.
